What do you charge for treatment and cleanings?
It is difficult to quote fees without knowing exactly what is needed. For example:
Therefore, without x-rays and/or examining the patient, it is difficult to quote fees over the phone. We do offer a $37 comprehensive exam or a $20 problem focused limited exam.
What is the difference between a comprehensive treatment plan and a limited exam?
You'll hear the term "comprehensive care" often at Sunshine Dental. It means that your dentist will examine your entire mouth to evaluate your overall oral health, and recommend treatment for long-lasting good health, rather than just fixing your immediate problem. On the other hand, a limited exam focuses on only one specific problem area or tooth and usually involves only one x-ray.
Do you take my insurance?
Sunshine Family Dentistry is considered an "in network" or preferred provider for most major PPO insurance. If your dental insurance plan allows you to select your own dentist, we will accept your insurance and will gladly submit a claim to your insurance company on your behalf, and we can always check your specific plan's coverage and limitations for you. We will also do our best to provide you with an out-of-pocket estimate before any treatment begins and can work with you to figure out the best financial arrangements to meet your needs.
At what age should my children first see a dentist?
Texas Health Steps recommends parents of newborns to set up baby’s first dental checkup at 6 months old or as soon after that as possible. A checkup this early gives our dentist a chance to see if the baby is at risk for tooth decay (cavities) and set both baby and parents on a course for healthy habits for taking care of teeth and gums. It is recommended to schedule at 3 month intervals until your child is 3 years old and then every 6 months thereafter.

On my first visit, why do I have to see the dentist first when I just want a cleaning?
There are actually several levels of cleaning available, depending on your oral health status. To determine the best cleaning for you, your dentist will need to see you first for a comprehensive exam. At this time, any other issues that may be of importance to your overall dental health will be discussed. Your actual treatment may happen as soon as the same day.
What will happen on my first visit to the office?
Your first appointment with Sunshine Dental will include an exam and consultation, and may include X-rays. Most routine procedures will be performed the same day.
